Local SEO Marketing – Using Meetup.com To Rank

What Is Meetup.com?

Meetup is an online social website founded in 2002 that allows users to organize offline group meetings in various localities around the world. Meetup allows members to find and join groups based on common interest, such as politics, books, games, movies, health, pets, careers or hobbies.

Meetup.com has a high domain authority (92) with google and events listed on meetup.com get indexed and ranked very quickly.  The combination of these two make meetup.com an ideal platform to use when attempting to rank for local search terms.

The only drawback is that this is not a free social media platform.  Meetup.com cost $20 a month ($14.95 if you pay 6 months at a time).  However, you can set up three separate meetups with this membership level.

Configuring Meetup.com For Local Search Marketing

After doing your keyword research and finding the search terms you want to dominate in your local seo you are ready to setup your first meetup.  In the following example I am setting up a meetup for “Denton SEO and Pay Per Click Marketing“.

First, set the Meetup group name.

Next, enter the search phrase for the meetup url.  This part needs to be unique.

Finally, enter the description of the meetup

When you writup the description of your meetup, include the search term there as well. Placing the search term at the beginning will give it the highest priority when google indexes the page.

Once you have setup the meetup site share it on your social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Nextdoor, ect).

Folowing the steps above I was able to rank on page one for terms like “Denton Online Marketing”, “Denton SEO”, “Denton PPC” and “Denton Pay Per Click” within 48 hours!
